IPC TPK Expands Export and Import Markets with Direct Call to China
Jakarta (ANTARA) – PT IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) has introduced a new Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) shipping service, the Seahorse route, at Terminal 3 of Tanjung Priok Port. The service connects and expands Indonesia’s export and import markets with China and Thailand.
“We warmly welcome the launch of the MSC Seahorse service as a concrete demonstration of IPC TPK’s commitment to improving national logistics competitiveness. This is a strategic step for IPC TPK to continue meeting global market needs by providing fast, reliable and internationally standardised port services,” acting Commercial and Business Development Director Yanuar Evyanto said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
The direct-call service, operating on the Jakarta–Shekou (China)–Laem Chabang (Thailand) route, marks an important step towards streamlining logistics flows and extending the reach of Indonesia’s export and import markets in East and South-east Asia.
The route’s maiden voyage was marked by the arrival of the MV MSC Elizabeth III, a Liberia-flagged vessel measuring 210 metres in length overall (LOA) and 30 metres in beam.
The vessel berthed at Terminal 3 at 8pm Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on 12 October 2026, and recorded strong productivity, handling 483 container boxes for loading and unloading.
After completing operations efficiently, the vessel departed to continue its voyage at 9.30am on 13 October 2026.
The new route linking Indonesia, China and Thailand is considered crucial to strengthening the regional economy, particularly by supporting food and energy security and industry.
China is a key destination for Indonesia’s energy commodity exports, while Thailand plays a vital role as an agricultural hub supporting regional food stability.
Connectivity among the three countries will also accelerate the movement of raw materials and finished products needed to strengthen Indonesia’s industrial supply-chain ecosystem as the Government seeks to accelerate its integration into global markets.
“This new route is not merely a routine operational expansion, but a maritime bridge that strengthens strategic cooperation between countries. We are highly optimistic that the MSC Seahorse service, supported by the reliability of IPC TPK’s facilities, will help promote food security, smooth energy distribution and accelerate the integration of Indonesia’s industrial supply chains into global markets,” Yanuar said.
