IPC TPK Container Traffic Reaches 1.49 Million TEUs in January-May 2026
IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) recorded a 6.1% cumulative growth in container traffic through May 2026, with total throughput reaching 1,492,721 TEUs. This figure is up from 1,406,875 TEUs in the same period last year. In May 2026 alone, IPC TPK posted 4% operational growth, handling 333,146 TEUs compared to 320,109 TEUs in May 2025. The increase aligns with heightened distribution activity and international trade approaching mid-year.
Senior Manager of the IPC TPK Secretariat, Daniel Setiawan, stated that facility readiness and service quality are key factors in maintaining smooth logistics flows amid rising container traffic. “The increase in logistics activity during May 2026 has driven service optimisation across all IPC TPK work areas. Operational readiness is the main key to ensuring the flow of goods remains smooth, safe, and efficient,” Daniel said in a statement on Monday (15/6).
Growth was recorded evenly across the company’s operational regions. In May 2026, the Panjang area recorded the highest growth at 18.8%, followed by the Jambi area at 15.4%. Meanwhile, Tanjung Priok 1 and Tanjung Priok 2 grew by 5.5% and 5.8% respectively compared to the same period last year. Cumulatively through May 2026, Tanjung Priok 1 led with 9.7% growth, followed by Panjang at 7.4%, Tanjung Priok 2 at 5.6%, Pontianak at 3%, and Jambi at 1.1%.
The company’s success in maintaining this growth trend is also supported by strategic moves to expand international shipping connectivity. In May 2026, IPC TPK officially began serving the new South China Java X-Press (SCJX) service operated by X-Press Feeders, connecting Indonesia with the South China region. The presence of this service reflects the high level of trade activity and growing logistics connectivity needs between Indonesia and China.
IPC TPK’s traffic growth is in line with the positive trend in national trade performance. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Indonesia’s export value for the January-April 2026 period reached US$92.15 billion, growing 5.48% compared to the same period the previous year. Daniel confirmed that IPC TPK will continue to strengthen service efficiency, operational readiness, and shipping connectivity to support the national supply chain and international trade growth.
