IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) Area Panjang, part of the Pelindo Group, is expanding its infrastructure to increase service capacity and support smoother logistics flows in southern Sumatra.

“One of these strategic steps was realised through the addition of a Post Panamax Quay Container Crane (QCC), which arrived at Panjang Port on board the MV Zheng Hua 37 from China,” said Manager of IPC TPK Area Panjang, Anang Subagyono, in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

He added that the arrival of the new crane is part of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas’ investment programme to support increased capacity and productivity at the terminal.

With the addition of this equipment, IPC TPK Area Panjang now has a total of four QCC units ready to strengthen ship services and container flows at the terminal.

He affirmed that the addition of the QCC is part of the company’s efforts to improve port competitiveness while strengthening the national logistics chain in Lampung and its surrounding areas.

In addition, the addition of the Post Panamax QCC is a strategic step to increase service capacity and terminal productivity.

“We want to ensure that IPC TPK Panjang can meet the needs of users as logistics activities and container flows in southern Sumatra increase,” said Anang.

The giant crane arrived at Panjang Port on board the MV Zheng Hua 37 from China. With this additional fleet, IPC TPK Area Panjang now has a total of four QCC units ready to optimise loading and unloading services at the main logistics gateway in southern Sumatra.

Technically, the Post Panamax QCC has an outreach of 45 metres with a reach of 16 to 17 rows of containers. These specifications allow the port to serve larger capacity ships more efficiently.

After the MV Zheng Hua 37 docked, the technical team will carry out the rolling-off process or lower the crane onto the terminal dock. Before being fully operational, this equipment will go through a series of stages starting from system installation, load testing (commissioning test), to integration with the terminal’s operational system (TOS).

Anang added that this infrastructure investment is projected to be a catalyst for regional economic growth. The arrival of the Post Panamax QCC unit also marks a new chapter in the modernisation of Panjang Port.

“We want to ensure that the infrastructure we have can not only support current operational trends, but also be ready to be a major catalyst for economic growth and smoother national logistics flows in Lampung and its surrounding areas,” said Anang.
