IPC Panjang container throughput surpasses 50,000 TEUs, buoyed by exports

IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) Area Panjang, part of the Pelindo Group, recorded container throughput reaching 50,287 TEUs up to May 2026, supported by exports of key commodities from Lampung Province. “Container flow at the Panjang Container Terminal shows a positive trend up to May 2026, with throughput growth of 7.40 percent compared to the same period last year,” said IPC TPK Senior Secretariat Manager Daniel Setiawan in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. He noted that from January to May 2026, container volume reached 50,287 TEUs, up from 46,824 TEUs in the same period of 2025. “The increase reflects heightened logistics and trade activity served through the Panjang Container Terminal,” he said. According to him, the achievement demonstrates growing goods movement in line with rising distribution and trade needs in Lampung and surrounding areas. He said the throughput growth in the Panjang Area, which is above IPC TPK’s national average, shows the terminal’s strategic role in supporting logistics and trade flows in the Lampung region. “We will continue to maintain service reliability to ensure that the needs of service users can be met optimally,” he said. He noted that the throughput increase was mainly supported by export growth of several key commodities. Tapioca starch shipments grew 267.37 percent, followed by frozen shrimp at 28.90 percent, pineapples at 22.93 percent, and refined glycerine at 21.90 percent compared to the same period the previous year. In addition, both domestic and international container flows showed positive growth. Up to May 2026, domestic throughput reached 28,163 TEUs, growing 10.04 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, international throughput reached 22,124 TEUs, an annual increase of 4.21 percent. Data from the Lampung Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) also showed a positive trade trend. In April 2026, Lampung Province’s export value reached US$504.59 million, an increase of 43.29 percent compared to April 2025. Meanwhile, import value was recorded at US$172.40 million, up 51.56 percent year-on-year. The growth in trade activity has further boosted logistics flows and container movements served through the Panjang Container Terminal. The positive performance of the Panjang Area also supports the national container traffic growth of IPC TPK. Up to May 2026, IPC TPK recorded throughput of 1.49 million TEUs, an increase of 6.1 percent compared to the same period the previous year. With growth of 7.4 percent, the Panjang Area became the second highest growth area within IPC TPK up to May 2026. As the main container terminal in Lampung Province, IPC TPK Panjang continues to strengthen operational services through improved coordination with various stakeholders, from shipping companies to service users. “This step is taken to maintain service stability amidst increasing logistics and trade activity,” he said.
