IPB University to Offer Master’s Scholarships with Research Funding for Journalists
IPB University will provide a master’s scholarship programme for journalists, including funding for research. The announcement was made directly by IPB University Rector Dr. Alim Setiawan Slamet after a grape harvest and breaking of the fast with journalists at the Pendopo Agribusiness and Technology Park (ATP) in Cikarawang, Dramaga, Bogor, on Friday 6 March. ‘This year there will be master’s scholarships for journalists. Including the research grant. If admitted this year, the research will take place next year. The aim is to enhance human resource capacity in the agromaritime sector,’ said Rector Alim, to a chorus of reactions from the media.
Further detail was provided by IPB University Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Deni Noviana. He explained the programme will start in the odd semester of 2026. ‘In the second week of August 2027 we can admit students. In the coming period we will determine the criteria and requirements. The scholarship is of the UKT type. This scholarship is a package with the research,’ he said. The Uang Kuliah Tunggal (UKT) is the system for paying tuition fees at Indonesian state universities, payable each semester.
One attraction is that the programme is not designed for two years but 18 months. ‘We will design the curriculum to fit 18 months. Because this is a special track, age is not restricted. The thesis topics will be provided. We will discuss with the postgraduate programme to arrange the supervising lecturers,’ he concluded.
