IPB University is strengthening innovation in the agricultural technology sector by developing a system to detect nutrient deficiencies in oil palm plantations. This initiative integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and high-resolution satellite imagery. The strategic collaboration was formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed by the Head of IPB University’s Advanced Technology LRI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Anas Miftah Fauzi, and the Executive Vice President of Dabeeo, Chang Hoon Moon. Through this partnership, both parties will develop a detection method that goes beyond conventional visual observation in the field. The use of satellite data and AI algorithms is expected to provide far more precise crop management recommendations. The new identification system is also projected to complement Precipalm, a fertiliser recommendation technology previously developed by IPB University. With the addition of satellite imagery data, the coverage and accuracy of Precipalm are believed to be further optimised. Head of Business Development at Dabeeo Indonesia, Rizky Dantri, stated the company’s commitment to supporting the research process, including providing funding and access to crucial satellite data.
