IPB, Uncen join Freeport project

BOGOR (JP): The Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) and the
Jayapura-based Cendrawasih University (Uncen) were asked to
fertilize 32,000 hectares of land in Irian Jaya belonging to PT
Freeport.

"Freeport asked us to fertilize the land because they have
been unable to do so," IPB rector Rokhmin Dahuri said on Friday.

He said the land would be apportioned to locals next February,
adding that some 30 IPB experts had begun work on the project.
