The recent statement by State Minister for National
Development Planning Kwik Kian Gie that large-scale corruption
had taken place in the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency was
like a loud scream in the zoo, where animals were only startled
for a while without making further response.

Nonetheless, Pak Kwik should not be disheartened because
despite the absence of any follow-up, many people think as you
do, believe your words and support your move.

The comments on corruption you have frequently made in your
capacity as a member of the Cabinet should have been responded to
by the prosecutor's office or the police. In reality, law
enforcement agencies have taken no action, even though they
continue to receive budgetary allocations to executive their
duties properly.

Anyway, I hope Pak Kwik will never stop pinpointing such
irregularities because I believe some day an appropriate response
will be made, probably by persons as rare as you are. The truth
will be revealed -- it is only a matter of time.
