Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar stated that the IP Expo 2026 exhibition can become a platform for real competition in showcasing creative products from intellectual property (IP) creators, thereby providing economic impacts for the creative actors involved.

“The project is about real-life implementation so that good items like this don’t get stuck only in competitions and portfolios but can be applied and seen,” said Irene during a discussion at the IP Expo event in Jakarta on Thursday.

Irene said that this IP Expo agenda, attended by local and international IP participants, can steer Indonesia’s creative economy as a contributor to new economic growth and become a pioneer in IP implementation in various aspects in Southeast Asia.

“What we focus on are two things: distribution and marketing, not just locally but worldwide. Indonesian creative economy fighters are very skilled at creating but their sales are somewhat lacking, so the government acts as a representative salesman,” said Irene.

She emphasised that local IP creators must have high visibility through mutually beneficial collaborations. She also advised against setting licence prices too high at the beginning if the goal is to build awareness.

The Ministry of Creative Economy is also participating in the IP Expo 2026 showcase, held at the Grand Ballroom Kempinski on 7-8 May 2026, featuring local IP such as A Space for the Unbound, Coffee Talk, Whisper Mountain Outbreak, the local game Dreadout, Broomstick, and Kulo Niku, as well as board games created by local creators mentored by the Ministry of Creative Economy.
