IOTO to meet in Surabaya

JAKARTA (JP): The Indian Ocean Tourism Organization (IOTO) has selected Surabaya, the capital of East Java, to host the organization's annual general meeting from Sept. 8 to Sept. 10.

IOTO said "value added" in tourism would be this year's theme.

"East Java is an increasingly significant market for many IOTO member destinations and the event will be an excellent opportunity for the organization's members and their marketing executives in particular to gain first-hand knowledge of the market size and potential that Surabaya and East Java offer," IOTO's chairman, Tunku Iskandar, said.

IOTO was set up in June 1995 to group Indian Ocean nations as a regional tourist marketing body. (icn)
