Ojek passenger dies in accident

JAKARTA: A public bus plying Jl. Sudirman hit a motorcycle taxi, or ojek, in the Dukuh Atas area of Central Jakarta on Thursday, and the ojek passenger was killed.

The victim, identified as M. Ali Nur, got the ojek at Bendungan Hilir, and was carrying a newly repaired television set. According to ojek driver, Supri, the victim wanted to go to Kebon Kacang, also in Central Jakarta.

The Mayasari Bakti bus hit the ojek in the rear, the two men on the motorcycle were launched forward on to the pavement and the bus skidded over Nur Ali.

The bus driver then fled the scene, while bystanders apprehended the driver's assistant and took him to the City Police headquarters. --JP
