IOC donates US$2m for
Aceh sports program

JAKARTA: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has
allocated a donation of US$2 million to help renovate sports
facilities in Aceh and North Sumatra after the devastating
tsunami on Dec. 26, 2004, according to Indonesian Sports Council
(KONI).

"We will have to submit the action-plan program soon for the
donation to be disbursed," KONI chairman Agum Gumelar said here
on Friday.

The financial pledge was made during a meeting between KONI
and IOC President Jacque Rogge in Lausanne, Switzerland on Monday
and Tuesday.

Agum said that KONI and its Aceh and North Sumatra
subordinates would coordinate with the Aceh Reconstruction
Agency, headed by Kuntoro Mangkusubroto. (004)
