The event is organised by the Ministry of Culture through the Directorate of Digital Culture Development as well as Museums and Cultural Heritage. During a media briefing held at Building E of the Ministry of Culture in Senayan, Jakarta, Culture Minister Fadli Zon stated that the Creative Video Content Competition ‘Me and My Culture’ can serve as a form of preserving national identity.

In the media briefing, Fadli explained that the Creative Video Content Competition ‘Me and My Culture’ represents the Ministry of Culture’s efforts to celebrate the diversity of Nusantara culture, particularly cultural sites.

According to Fadli, dynamic digital content can become one of the strategic channels to respond to public interest in Indonesia’s cultural diversity.

“We know that Indonesia is a country with cultural megadiversity, where our culture is very rich and diverse. Through creative video content, we want to bring the general public and students to interact with cultural sites and museums in their respective regions,” added Fadli in a written statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

Furthermore, Fadli explained that the young generation is now very familiar with utilising digital spaces and creating educational content.

Based on this, the Ministry of Culture is also encouraging the digital creativity of the young generation to promote historical sites and museums in their respective regions.

“This competition has great potential to stimulate cultural interest in digital spaces. From a cultural perspective, this competition can serve as a platform to invite the young generation not only to be consumers of cultural content but also to become creators, actors, and cultural ambassadors in the digital space,” stated Fadli.

Fadli also emphasised that the Creative Video Content Competition ‘Me and My Culture’ is an initiative by the Ministry of Culture to promote the richness of cultural sites while enhancing cultural literacy and digital culture development in Indonesia.

In addition to fostering interest among the young generation to visit museums and cultural heritage sites, Fadli is optimistic that the competition can strengthen the regional cultural tourism sector.

The ‘Me and My Culture’ Video Content Competition carries the theme ‘Museums and Cultural Heritage in My Region’, with registration open until 30 June 2026.

Competition participants are open to two categories: general and students/university students throughout Indonesia. Information on the requirements and conditions of the competition can be accessed at lombaakudanbudayaku.com.

The ‘Me and My Culture’ Video Content Competition utilises three social media platforms: YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Competition winners will receive incentives in the form of total prizes amounting to tens of millions of rupiah.

Fadli encouraged the young generation to produce creative, informative, and inspirational works that can bring back museums and cultural heritage as something close, interesting, and a source of pride.

“Through the ‘Me and My Culture’ Cultural Content Competition, we invite the young generation of Indonesia not only to be enjoyers of culture but also to become creators, actors, and cultural ambassadors in the digital space,” said Fadli.

Reinforcing Fadli’s statement, Director General of Development, Utilisation, and Coaching of Culture Ahmad Mahendra also emphasised that the ‘Me and My Culture’ Video Content Competition can provide a space for young people to love museums and cultural heritage in their respective regions.

“Digital works in this competition can also stimulate care for regional museums and build communities of culture enthusiasts,” said Mahendra.
