Investors No Longer Need Hassle: Foreign Worker KITAS Processing Now Centralised at BKPM
The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, continues to implement measures to ensure investors feel comfortable investing in Indonesia. One such measure is accommodating the processing of Limited Stay Permits (KITAS) for foreign workers.
He explained that KITAS permits previously required processing through both the Ministry of Immigration and the Ministry of Manpower. However, investors no longer need to deal with these two separate ministries; they can now do so solely through the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM.
In other words, all permits, ranging from investment licences to foreign worker permits, can be handled simultaneously within a single institution. “We have signed an agreement with the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Immigration. Within the next two months, all primary permits will be issued by our Ministry of Investment,” he stated during the Indonesia Sustainable Forum at the Grand Ballroom Kempinski, Jakarta, on Tuesday (6/10/2026).
According to Rosan, centralising these processes at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM will also accelerate investment licensing. He promised that the processing of investment permits and KITAS will be completed within six days. “For primary permits, you only need to wait six days, and we will issue them automatically,” he said.
The head of Danantara added that through this strategy, the government is creating regulatory certainty for investors, which will indirectly improve Indonesia’s investment climate. Rosan believes that well-managed investment will ultimately bring prosperity to the wider public.
“Indonesia is committed to building a resilient, more competitive, and more sustainable economic future. The resources, the market, and the ambition are all here. The policy direction is clear,” he concluded.
