Banyuwangi, E Java (ANTARA News) - An Indonesian investor had expressed his interest in building a sugar factory in the East Java district of Banyuwangi, a government official said.

The investor would go ahead with his will as long as the district government could provide him with several thousand hectares of sugarcane plantation area, Abdullah Azwar Anas, said here Friday.

Abdullah Azwar Anas, head of Banyuwangi district, said the sugar factory that the investor wanted to build would be located in northern Banyuwangi.

However, the district government still attempted to find the sugarcane plantation area that the investor need for his factory`s sustainable production, he said.

"The plan to build this sugar factory is different from the ones that other parties have ever planned before," he said without mentioning the name of the interesting investor.
Abdullah Azwar Anas said the presence of a sugar factory in the district area would held absorb local sugarcane.

"With the availability of sugar factory in our district area, the sugarcane from our plantations need not be transported out of Banyuwangi," he said.

In addition to that, the sugar factory would also employ local job seekers. "We are so enthusiastic with the investor`s interest in building the sugar factory," he said.(*)
