Bekasi: The global Japanese patisserie company, Chateraise Co., Ltd., has begun construction of its second factory in Indonesia through its subsidiary Chateraise Indonesia, under the Gobel Group since 2016. The strategic partnership and expansion are estimated to record an investment value exceeding Rp1.4 trillion.

The construction of this production facility located in Bekasi serves as evidence of the Japanese company’s long-term commitment to strengthening domestic production capacity, while also responding to the high growth in market demand in Indonesia.

Since opening its first outlet in 2017, Chateraise has expanded to have more than 60 retail stores. The strengthening of local production has already begun since the operation of their first factory in 2022.

Integration of local agriculture and the halal industry

This expansion of the second factory is not merely focused on increasing production volume, but also brings a mission to integrate the local agricultural sector with modern manufacturing. Adopting a farm-to-factory approach, the factory will optimally absorb local raw materials from upstream to downstream.

CEO of Châteraisé Holdings Co., Ltd., Takako Saito, stated that this collaboration is designed to create added value for the national industrial ecosystem in a sustainable manner, as well as technology transfer.

“The construction of this second factory reflects our long-term commitment in Indonesia. Through the farm-to-factory approach, we want to create added value from local raw materials while contributing to job creation. We believe that collaboration with the Gobel Group will continue to have a positive impact,” said Saito at the Deltamas Industrial Estate on Monday, 13 April 2026.

With the presence of this new manufacturing facility, the production capacity of Chateraise’s favourite products will increase. One of them is the production of flagship products like custard puffs, which is targeted to increase up to tenfold compared to the previous facility’s capacity.

“In terms of value, the current production capacity reaches 1.2 billion yen. This new factory will increase the capacity tenfold from the first factory,” said Saito through her interpreter.

This strategic step in food manufacturing aligns with the government’s vision in attracting quality investments. Previously, in February 2025, the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, held a special meeting with Takako Saito. In that meeting, Chateraise’s commitment to optimising the absorption of local commodities, such as cocoa and sweet potatoes, was discussed, which aligns with the roadmap for strengthening the national halal industry.
