Investment Ministry Under Bahlil's Command, Rosan: We Are Awaiting Instructions
The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, is still awaiting further instructions regarding the position of the Investment Ministry within the new government structure. This follows the government’s formation of the Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, which will be headed by Bahlil Lahadalia.
Previously, the Ministry of Investment operated under the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. When asked whether these changes would be formalised through a Presidential Regulation (Perpres), Rosan reiterated that his department would follow the government’s directives.
“Yes, we will just follow along. The important thing is that our coordination remains good,” he stated firmly.
Nevertheless, Rosan ensured that the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) will remain in existence.
“Of course it will,” Rosan remarked.
The establishment of the Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition is considered vital as the government is currently focusing heavily on downstreaming industries. According to Bahlil, the Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition will also oversee the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming.
Bahlil explained that the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming will handle technical aspects, while his office will serve as the coordinator. “The Coordinating Minister is simply a coordinator. Meanwhile, the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming will act as the technical minister. Therefore, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming will operate under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry. That is all, it is standard procedure,” he said following Bahlil Lahadalia’s inauguration on Thursday (1/10/2026).
