JAKARTA, DDTCNews - The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has stated it is coordinating with the police to eradicate thuggery by mass organisations and illegal levies targeting investors.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani expressed hope that in future no investors would be disturbed by thugs or illegal levies.

"We are coordinating with the National Police Chief and also with regional governments to ensure these things do not happen," he said on Tuesday (29/4/2025).

Rosan said the practices of thuggery and illegal levies had negatively impacted the investment climate. BKPM has also received complaints from investors regarding such matters. However, Rosan did not specify which companies had lodged the complaints.

"I have ordered that these reports be coordinated directly. At the level of the National Police Chief, provincial police chiefs, district police chiefs and sub-district police chiefs, we have already coordinated to ensure these things must not happen again," Rosan said.

Investment realisation in Indonesia in the first quarter of 2025 reached Rp465.2 trillion, growing 15.9 per cent compared with the first quarter of 2024. This figure is equivalent to 24.4 per cent of this year's investment target of Rp1,905.6 trillion.

The number of Indonesian workers absorbed through capital investment in the first quarter of 2025 reached 594,104 people.

The strong growth in investment realisation during the first quarter of 2025 is claimed to reflect investor confidence in the government of President Prabowo Subianto.

"We know that investment is a long-term commitment. They see that under the leadership of Mr Prabowo, peace and stability are very well maintained, so that incoming investment can proceed in line with targets," Rosan said.
