Investment Minister Vows Impartiality in Revoking Mining Permits
Jakarta, IDN Times - Investment Minister and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has affirmed that he will not be selective in revoking mining business permits (IUP) as mandated by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
As a former businessman, Bahlil has faced doubts about his ability to act impartially in revoking problematic mining permits. However, he insisted that he would show no favouritism in carrying out the task.
"We are conducting this revocation process without discrimination. Some of my friends and even some who are part of my former company group have been affected. I am no longer permitted to be a businessman, so my former companies have also had their permits revoked," Bahlil said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (25/4/2022).
