Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani has spoken out regarding acts of thuggery carried out by a mass organisation amid the construction of the BYD factory in Subang, West Java.

Rosan confirmed he had received reports on the matter and had requested National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the local government to ensure such acts of thuggery in business areas do not recur.

"We received the reports and we have coordinated with the National Police Chief and also with the local government to ensure these things do not happen again," said Rosan when met at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries in Jakarta on Tuesday (29/4).

"I have also instructed that for all these reports, we coordinate directly with the National Police Chief, Provincial Police Chief, District Police Chief, and even Sub-district Police Chief," Rosan explained.

Furthermore, Rosan stated that thugs operating under the guise of mass organisations would only have a negative impact on investors. For this reason, he had also directed his team at BKPM to conduct direct monitoring at the locations cited in the reports received.

"Because this has a negative impact on incoming investment. So we are truly monitoring this directly," he concluded.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Eddy Soeparno, had also revealed disturbances to the construction of the BYD factory in Subang, West Java, carried out by mass organisations and acts of thuggery. He obtained the information whilst attending an invitation from the Chinese Government during a series of visits to Shenzhen.

"There were problems related to thuggery, mass organisations disrupting the construction of BYD's production facilities. I think the government must be firm. The government needs to be firm in addressing these problems," said Eddy on his Instagram account, as quoted on Sunday (20/4).

"We must not allow investors to come to Indonesia and then feel they do not receive security guarantees. Security guarantees are the most fundamental requirement for investment to enter Indonesia," he added.
