JAKARTA - The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) reported massive employment absorption throughout the first semester of 2026. Investment realisation in the first half of 2026 successfully created new jobs for 1,448,862 people across Indonesia. β€œThe most important thing is we can see that the employment absorption reached 1,448,862 people, or an increase of approximately 15% compared to the previous year,” said Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, during a press conference at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (16/7/2026). Rosan explained that investor commitments to real capital investment, or Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), remain aligned with the annual targets formulated by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). Throughout January-June 2026, cumulative investment realisation reached Rp1,010.6 trillion, representing an annual growth of 7.2%.
