Investment in SEZs Reaches Rp 353.5 Trillion, New Potential Hits Rp 846 Trillion
The government has recorded cumulative investment in Special Economic Zones (KEK) reaching Rp 353.5 trillion as of the first quarter of 2026. This investment flow has simultaneously driven the absorption of 266,000 workers.
Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso stated that this achievement serves as a positive signal amid global economic dynamics and notes from international rating agencies.
“We are convinced that in Special Economic Zones, almost all of them, particularly those based on manufacturing industry, investment has increased remarkably,” Susiwijono said on Tuesday (7/7/2026).
This optimism is supported by the occupancy levels of several SEZs that have reached maximum capacity. Susiwijono cited three industrial-based SEZs that have shown the most optimal performance: KEK Gresik, KEK Kendal, and KEK Galang Batang.
These three zones have submitted applications for land expansion and area development, averaging twice their existing size. The expansion is intended to accommodate new investment demand.
“This proves that real investment in the manufacturing industry remains very promising in Indonesia,” he stated.
