Investment in 2026 to Absorb 3 Million Indonesian Workers
President Prabowo Subianto announced that investment realisation has absorbed more than 3 million workers in Indonesia from 2025 through the first semester of 2026. The statement was made during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday (14/8/2026).
The national investment sector recorded a realisation of Rp1,931 trillion throughout 2025, which created 2.7 million jobs. In the first semester of 2026 alone, incoming investment reached Rp1,010 trillion, adding 1.4 million new jobs.
President Prabowo highlighted the resilience of the national investment rate amid international market turmoil. “Amid global uncertainty, investment continues to grow. Throughout 2025, investment realisation reached Rp1,931 trillion and created more than 2.7 million jobs. In the first semester of 2026 alone, investment realisation reached Rp1,010 trillion and has created more than 1.4 million jobs,” Prabowo said.
National economic growth also recorded a positive trend of 5.61 per cent in the first quarter of 2026 and 5.45 per cent in the first semester of 2026. This figure represents the highest record in the past 13 years. The government is targeting an economic growth rate of 6 per cent by the end of 2026 through a series of strategic policies. “With the right, rational, and common-sense policies, I am confident our economic growth by the end of this year can reach 6 per cent,” he stated.
Despite the positive trend, the government stressed that macroeconomic indicators and investment figures are not the primary drivers without effective poverty alleviation. “For me, growth and investment are not the end goal. Our goal is the welfare of our people. High growth that cannot be enjoyed by the majority of our people is of no benefit to us,” he said. Future economic policies will be fully oriented towards job creation and improving the living standards of the lower classes. “Every rupiah of investment must create jobs, must result in an improved quality of life for our people, especially those at the very bottom. That is the orientation of the government I lead,” he asserted.
