Investigation into Train Accident at Bekasi Timur Station, KNKT: Still in Process

The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has begun investigating the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station. KNKT has not been able to say much yet, as they are still in the early stages of the investigation. “Still in the early process of investigation,” explained KNKT’s Head of Public Relations Team, Anggo Anugoro, quoted from Kompas.com on Tuesday (28/4/2026). “Still in the early process of investigation. Meanwhile, Transport Minister (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi fully supports the KNKT investigation. “We ensure that the evacuation process is carried out quickly, prioritising the safety of the affected victims,” Dudy said. Once the evacuation process is complete, KNKT will conduct the investigation into the cause of the accident. “We continue to coordinate intensively with all relevant parties so that the evacuation process runs optimally,” Dudy added. The rescue team must evacuate slowly and with full caution because the victims’ bodies are trapped under the KRL carriage metal. Cutting techniques (cutting) and lifting (lifting material) are being carried out to free the victims’ bodies from the metal pressure. Basarnas is trying to work as effectively as possible so that the victims can be removed from there soon.
