Investigation into Hayam Wuruk Online Gambling Headquarters Will Not Stop at Lower Levels
Police raided an online gambling (Judol) headquarters on Hayam Wuruk Street in West Jakarta, securing 321 people from the location. Police promise that this case will not stop at the lower levels.
Summarised by detikcom on Monday (11/5/2026), the raid took place on Thursday (7/5). The Director of General Criminal Acts (Dirtipidum) of Bareskrim Polri, Brigjen Wira Satya Triputra, stated that the investigation will continue up to the upper levels of the Judol syndicate.
“We remain committed to conducting the investigation up to the top,” said Wira.
He stated that the 321 people arrested in Hayam Wuruk hold the highest position of coordinator. He guaranteed that the case will be thoroughly investigated.
“Those currently are only at the level of coordinators for each type of work they do, or their roles as perpetrators,” he said.
Wira mentioned that 320 foreign nationals (WNA) were arrested while operating an online gambling site. He said the majority of the WNA are from Vietnam, namely 228 people. In addition, there are 57 Chinese nationals, 13 from Myanmar, 11 from Laos, five from Thailand, and three each from Malaysia and Cambodia.
“The perpetrators were caught red-handed, meaning the perpetrators were carrying out operations or online gambling activities,” he said.
The WNA entered Indonesia with tourist visas or permissions and do not have work permits. He mentioned that the Judol headquarters is suspected to have been operating for about two months.
The perpetrators are suspected of renting a building floor as a centre for organised cross-border digital operations. The WNA’s visas have also expired, meaning they are overstaying.
“For visa-free or tourist visas, immigration only allows 30 days. That means if they have been here for 2 months, the individuals are overstaying. They have committed immigration crimes,” said the Secretary of NCB Interpol Indonesia Divhubinter Polri, Brigjen Untung Widyatmoko.
Untung said that Polri is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate General of Immigration of Kemenimipas. Polri proposes the formation of a special task force to handle countries on the subject of interest (SOI) list.
“If left unchecked, if only Polri conducts actions, it certainly will not be effective. We need to sit together to consolidate for the formation of a task force,” said Untung.
Sponsor of WNA Investigated
Latest, Wira said that they will investigate the flow of funds up to the sponsors of the 320 WNA who work at the Judol headquarters. He said Polri will coordinate with related agencies.
“Those who have been designated as suspects will still be processed criminally and we will hand them over to the prosecutor’s office until the court trial. Then for follow-up in terms of development, we will coordinate with related agencies, both regarding the flow of funds and the sponsors of the perpetrators who come here,” said Brigjen Wira at the location on Sunday (10/5/2026).
He mentioned that investigators will also pursue who hired the WNA to the place used as the Judol headquarters. Equipment providers are also being investigated.
“Including tracing who rented, sponsors who provide facilities and infrastructure for the perpetrators,” he said.
