Investigation into Cause of Indogas SPBE Explosion Still Underway
The investigation into the cause of the incident at the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) of PT Indogas Andalan Kita in Bekasi is still ongoing. Pertamina Patra Niaga’s West Java Regional Office (JBB), together with the relevant authorities, is currently conducting a thorough examination to determine the triggering factors of the Indogas SPBE explosion, following the incident that occurred on Wednesday night (1/4). According to police statements, there were a total of 12 victims in the incident. “Regarding the cause of the incident, further investigation is still being carried out with the relevant authorities,” said Area Manager for Communications, Relations & CSR of the JBB Regional PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Susanto August Satria, in an official statement on Thursday (2/4). The company, along with the SPBE party, claims to have acted swiftly to coordinate with the local fire department team to handle the incident. The handling efforts bore fruit after the fire was successfully extinguished by the Bekasi City and Regency Fire Department teams on Thursday (2/4) in the early hours. Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional JBB also expressed appreciation for the quick work and synergy of the fire department team, as well as the support from TNI and Polri in securing the location perimeter, ensuring the handling process ran smoothly without further impacts. Pertamina Patra Niaga West Java Regional Office has issued an apology for the incident that occurred at the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) of PT Indogas Andalan Kita on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, around 21:00. “We apologise for the incident that occurred,” said Susanto. Currently, their main focus is on post-incident handling, including ensuring the safety of the surrounding community as well as handling the affected victims and SPBE workers. Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional JBB has also assured that LPG supplies to the public remain safe. To maintain distribution, a Regular Alternative Emergency (RAE) scheme has been prepared with support from the nearest SPBE, namely SPBE PT Kenrope Sarana Pratama (±5.8 km), SPBE PT Pacific Sumber Segara (±7.1 km), and SPBE PT Dharma Wira Sentosa (±7.9 km). In addition, Pertamina Patra Niaga has requested that the SPBE party provide the best handling for the affected victims, including ensuring that public complaints are addressed optimally. Data on the number of victims is still in the process of being compiled and will be announced further. The public is urged to remain calm and not engage in panic buying, as replacement supply points for the SPBE have been provided to ensure LPG needs are met.
