Investigation into Andrie Yunus Case Must Continue Despite TNI Intelligence Chief's Resignation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Member of Commission I of the House of Representatives from the PDI-P faction, retired Major General TNI TB Hasanuddin, emphasised that the resignation of the Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo, must not impede the process of law enforcement.
TB Hasanuddin urged that the investigation into the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus continue comprehensively and transparently.
“The investigation must be thoroughly pursued, not only regarding the field perpetrators, but also who the actors are that planned or were behind the incident. This is important to avoid questions and disappointment among the public,” said TB Hasanuddin to Kompas.com on Thursday (26/3/2026).
He also emphasised the importance of the House of Representatives’ role in conducting oversight, including supervising the performance of state intelligence.
On the other hand, TB Hasanuddin appreciated Lieutenant General Yudi’s decision to resign amid the controversy.
He viewed the step as reflecting a moral responsibility that deserves respect.
“We hold respect for the magnanimity of the Kabais. When subordinates commit violations, the superior demonstrates high moral responsibility by resigning. This is something we should appreciate,” said TB Hasanuddin.
“This becomes a good example and hopefully can be emulated by us all,” he added.
Previously, Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo relinquished his position as Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais).
The TNI Information Centre Head, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap on Wednesday (25/3/2026), did not clearly explain whether Yudi resigned or was dismissed.
He only stated that the Kabais position had been handed over as a form of accountability.
“As a form of accountability, today the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out,” said Aulia on Wednesday (25/3/2026) evening.
