Investigating Luxury Facilities, Imipas Inspects 52 Inmates at Cibinong Prison
The Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Imipas) has confirmed that it has interrogated a total of 52 inmates to investigate the existence of luxury facilities at the Class IIA Cibinong Prison.
Inspector General of the Imipas Ministry, Rudi Setiawan, stated that the inspections have been carried out by his department since Friday (25/9).
“We conducted inspections yesterday, and up to today, we have interrogated 52 of our inmates,” Rudi told reporters on Saturday (26/9).
Rudi added that, in addition to the inmates, the ministry will also examine approximately 54 employees working at the Class IIA Cibinong Prison.
“Today, we have scheduled around 54 more, or 50, from the staff,” he said.
Furthermore, he stated that Imipas will also delve into the whereabouts of luxury facilities that ‘disappeared’ following an inspection by the Ombudsman. This investigation is being conducted because the luxury facilities previously discovered were missing during a visit by the Minister of Imipas, Agus Andrianto, and the Head of Bappisus, Aris Marsudiyanto.
“I see a discrepancy; the items I mentioned earlier, such as TVs and refrigerators, all of which were noted by the Ombudsman, are the targets of our investigation,” he explained.
“We want to know: where are they now, why are they gone, and who moved them? Naturally, whoever moved them will be held responsible; we will find out why they were moved,” he added.
On the other hand, Rudi added that as a sign of commitment, five officials at the Class IIA Cibinong Prison have been dismissed as part of the investigation.
Rudi explained that the five deactivated officials include the Head of the Prison (Kalapas), the Head of Security and Order (KPLP), the Head of Correctional Services (Kasi Binadik), the Head of Security and Order (Kasi Kamtib), and the Head of General Affairs.
“We will conduct an investigation into how this situation occurred, from the time the facilities were found until today,” he concluded.
