Investigating Links with Three Corporations, KPK Examines Rita Widyasari
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogated the former Regent of Kutai Kartanegara, Rita Widyasari, as a witness on 3 June 2026. The examination was conducted to deepen the investigation into her relationship with three corporations that have been named as suspects in an alleged bribery case involving coal production in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan.
βThe witness is being investigated regarding the corporate relationship involving the receipt of gratifications per metric ton, Ms RW,β stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Saturday (6/6/2026). Budi added that, alongside Rita, the KPK is conducting similar investigations while examining businessman Robert Priantono Bonosusatya and advocate Noval Elfarveisa as witnesses in the case.
In this matter, the KPK previously named Rita Widyasari, the President Director of PT Sawit Golden Prima, Hery Susanto Gun, and the Commissioner of PT Media Bangun Bersama, Khairudin, as suspects in an alleged bribery case in Kutai Kartanegara on 28 September 2017. Rita is alleged to have received bribes amounting to Rp 6 billion in relation to the granting of location permits for oil palm plantations to PT Sawit Golden Prima in Kupang Baru Village, Muara Kaman District.
On 16 January 2018, the KPK re-designated Rita and Khairudin as suspects for alleged money laundering offences. During the investigation of the case, the KPK seized 91 vehicles, various items of economic value, five plots of land with a total area of thousands of square metres, and 30 luxury watches from various brands. The seizure was announced on 6 June 2024.
Subsequently, on 19 February 2025, the KPK revealed that Rita is also alleged to have received fund flows related to coal mining of approximately 5 US dollars per metric ton of coal.
On 19 February 2026, the KPK named three corporations as suspects in the alleged bribery case related to coal production in Kutai Kartanegara, namely PT Sinar Kumala Naga, PT Alamjaya Barapratama, and PT Bara Kumala Sakti.
