Introducing the BRG Method, This Trader Reveals How to Read Market Direction
The number of Indonesian capital market investors reached 26,486,735 Single Investor Identifications as of 30 April 2026. That figure is up 30.17 percent compared to the end of 2025.
On the other hand, data from the Indonesian Central Securities Depository as of December 2025 shows that 54.23 percent of investors are under 30 years old.
Such rapid growth is not automatically matched by equivalent understanding. The Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities under the Financial Services Authority recorded public losses due to illegal investments reaching Rp142.22 trillion from 2017 to the third quarter of 2025. As of 12 November 2025, the task force had shut down 14,005 illegal financial entities, including 1,882 illegal investment schemes.
This gap is what Ranto Siagian, better known as Bang RAN, identified when he founded Ran Trade on 1 July 2024.
According to Bang RAN, people today do not lack access to investment instruments. What they lack is an understanding of the risks involved.
“In the field, I find many people are already familiar with trading, but are still weak in understanding risk management, reading market structure, and executing strategies consistently,” he said, quoted on Saturday (29/8/2026).
For that reason, Ran Trade does not stop at online classes. The community continues to hold face-to-face seminars, even though the format is more cumbersome.
“Online classes are indeed more practical, but through face-to-face seminars I can see directly whether participants truly understand the material and the difficulties they are experiencing,” he said.
The most recent seminar was held in Surabaya last July. Participants came from various regions in Indonesia, some from abroad.
One participant, Ilham, admitted he came after suffering losses in investments due to a lack of understanding of risk management. That experience made him question the way he made decisions in the financial markets.
He attended not to seek a quick way to profit, but to understand his own mistakes so they would not be repeated.
The main material of the seminar was the BRG Method, an approach developed by Bang RAN from his own experience. Its structure is gradual: reading market direction, determining entry areas, then formulating a risk management strategy before a position is taken.
“What distinguishes the BRG Method is its structured approach, starting from reading market direction, determining entry areas, to managing risk before taking a position,” he said.
Nevertheless, Bang RAN emphasised that the method is not a guarantee.
“I have never promised a success rate or fixed profit, because trading results are still influenced by market conditions, discipline, psychology, and the way each person manages risk. This method is a guide for making more measured decisions, not a guarantee of certain profit,” he said.
For context, Bang RAN was born in Samarinda on 25 August 1998. His family’s economic hardship led his parents to place him and several of his siblings in an orphanage, from the first grade of primary school until he graduated from vocational high school.
“I learned to play music, practised public speaking when interacting with donors, and learned discipline through various scheduled routine activities,” he said of that period.
His desire to continue to university was dashed due to cost. From that experience he concluded that education does not stop at theory, but is also about building discipline, consistency, and responsibility in decision-making.
