Introducing MTick: A Label for Products Designed for Menopausal Women
Women entering menopause are now beginning to receive support through special labelling on products designed to meet their needs during this phase. One such initiative is MTick, a symbol and certification that helps consumers recognise menopause-friendly products.
MTick is an initiative spearheaded by GenM, according to a press release on Thursday (13/8/2026), an organisation focused on menopause issues, to provide a marker on products deemed relevant to the needs of women during menopause. This labelling can help women find suitable products without having to sift through individual claims or product ingredients one by one.
The need for more easily recognisable information and products is important because menopause is a natural phase in a woman’s life that can be accompanied by various changes due to hormonal fluctuations. Commonly experienced symptoms include irregular menstruation, hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and mood changes.
In some women, these symptoms can affect daily activities and quality of life. However, the needs of menopausal women have not always been matched by the availability of easily recognisable information or products.
GenM research recorded that around one billion women worldwide are currently experiencing menopause. Of that number, 87 percent of respondents felt they had not received adequate attention from brands or retailers.
The same research showed that 94 percent of women wanted menopause-friendly product labelling. However, 66 percent of them still had difficulty finding such products.
In Indonesia, the issue of menopause is also becoming increasingly relevant as women’s life expectancy rises. Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) show that the number of women aged 45 and over continues to increase.
With the growing number of women going through menopause and post-menopause, the need for education and access to accurate information about this phase is also becoming increasingly important.
