Int'l workshop on displaced persons

PALANGKA RAYA, Central Kalimantan: A two-day workshop on
guiding principles for the internal migration of refugees has
taken place in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, in cooperation
with the International Organization for Migration.

Central Kalimantan Governor Nahson Taway told the workshop,
which ended on Friday, that the handling of refugees should
observe the principles of national and international laws
concerning humanitarian affairs.

Organized by the Directorate General of Human Rights
Protection at the Ministry of Justice, the discussion was
attended by 14 participants from Jakarta, 17 provincial delegates
and three representatives of the ministry's regional office.

The governor added that in was in this spirit that his
administration had sought to achieve reconciliation in resolving
communal conflicts, and had issued a local regulation to mitigate
