Int'l women's group to hold gathering

JAKARTA (JP): An international women's group called Soroptimist International of Jakarta will host an Awareness Evening tomorrow. Soroptimist International is a women's community service organization with clubs in more than 110 countries.

The evening will discuss the situation of Indonesian women and girls, and the organization's health and education projects.

The organization's president, Julie Marsaban, said yesterday that the Soroptimists are currently sponsoring a number of under- privileged high school girls. It has also raised funds to sponsor poor pregnant women to get access to pre- and post-natal care, she said.
