Interprovincial motorcycle theft syndicate dismantled, eight suspects arrested
West Nusa Tenggara Police have dismantled an interprovincial motorcycle theft syndicate, arresting eight suspects and seizing multiple stolen motorcycles.
“Eight suspects were arrested along with stolen motorcycles,” said Senior Commissioner Arisandi, Director of General Criminal Investigation for West Nusa Tenggara Police, in Mataram on Monday.
He explained that stolen vehicles from NTB were sold outside the province, including to Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara.
The investigation began after receiving reports of missing vehicles, followed up by the Puma Team through inquiries, witness statements, and crime scene examinations.
“Following further investigations, the Puma Team identified and arrested eight suspects with varying roles,” he added.
The eight suspects, arrested on 29 May 2026, include HL (33), the main fence; MN (27), a middleman; FA (22), AF (21), ENS (22), and D (26), who carried out the thefts. Additionally, M (30) acted as both a middleman and thief, while AI (22) was a thief.
“We are still investigating whether other suspects are involved,” he said.
The police seized 13 motorcycles suspected to be stolen, but the suspects claim dozens more were taken.
“They admitted to possessing dozens of vehicles, so we are still tracing other evidence,” said Arisandi.
All evidence is now secured at the West Nusa Tenggara Police headquarters. Victims are urged to verify ownership by presenting valid documentation.
