Interpol Issues Red Notice for Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry Over Sexual Abuse Case

Interpol has issued a red notice for Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, a fugitive in a case of alleged sexual abuse against his students. The head of the National Police’s International Relations Division, Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko, stated that the request for the red notice was approved and published by Interpol’s headquarters in Lyon, France, at the beginning of July. “The red notice was published last week. The individual concerned had an Interpol red notice issued on 9 July 2026, with the Interpol Red Notice number A/10808/7-2026,” Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko told reporters on Monday (3/8). Untung explained that the police are still pursuing the suspect. He mentioned that Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry is still detected as being in Egypt. “Efforts are still underway. (Confirmed still in Egypt) He is still there,” he clarified. On the Interpol website, Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry is listed under the first name Ahmad Abdelwakil Elsayed Mohamed and the family name Ahmed. He has now been placed on the international wanted list. According to the data, Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry is recorded as being 39 years old, an Indonesian national, and born in Kalyubiya, Egypt. Interpol also noted the criminal offences he is charged with, namely indecent acts and physical sexual violence. “Criminal offences of indecent acts and physical sexual violence,” the statement on the page read. For context, Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry is currently being pursued by the Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police following reports of alleged sexual abuse against his students. The case has been elevated to the investigation stage, and police have named Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry as a suspect.
