A British national with the initials SL (45) was secured by immigration officers upon landing at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. SL is known to be an Interpol fugitive involved in the criminal offence of money laundering. “We emphasise that Bali will never be a safe hiding place for international fugitives,” stated the Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, in his remarks on Saturday (28/3/2026). Bugie revealed that SL was arrested in the international arrivals area of Ngurah Rai Airport around 12:45 WITA. SL is known to have flown in from Singapore. During the immigration examination process, the system detected the British man as a subject of an Interpol Red Notice. SL is suspected of being the leader of an international criminal organisation and the mastermind behind a network managing fictitious companies in the money laundering case. After securing SL, immigration officers handed the foreign man over to the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport District Police for further legal handling. This, Bugie stated, is in accordance with procedures for handing over international fugitives. The Head of the Bali Region Immigration Directorate Office, Felucia Sengky Ratna, appreciated the arrest of the Interpol fugitive. Felucia emphasised the importance of integrated oversight of foreigners at Bali’s entry points. “This success demonstrates that the immigration surveillance system in the Bali region is operating effectively, integrated, and responsive to cross-border threats,” said Felucia.
