Interpol fugitive caught in Bali

DENPASAR, Bali: An Indonesian who has been on Interpol's wanted list since last year for his alleged involvement in drug dealing in Belgium and Australia, has been apprehended by police here.

Sirup Siregar, 37, was picked up by officers in the Sanur area on Thursday.

According to police, he was found to be in possession of about 1.6 grams of marijuana at the time of his arrest.

Chief of the Bali Police Narcotics Division Adj. Snr. Comm. Wayan Suwena said police had been searching for Sirup for some time.

"We got a break when we were informed that the suspect was seen driving in the Sanur area," he said adding that based on information they had received it was believed that three Interpol fugitives were hiding out in Bali.(zen)
