An Indonesian citizen named Jimmy Lie, who appeared on the international fugitive list, has been arrested in Malaysia. Metro Tangerang City Police Chief Kombes Raden Muhammad Jauhari stated that Jimmy Lie was apprehended by Malaysian authorities after being listed on Interpol’s Red Notice.

“Jimmy Lie is a suspect in a bribery case concerning land certificate administration through the Systematic Land Registration Programme (PTSL) in Tangerang Regency,” Jauhari said in a statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.

The case allegedly involved bribery practices to expedite the processing of documents for upgrading land rights owned by Jimmy Lie and other related parties. Police suspect Jimmy Lie provided funds to H Sueb.

“Money totalling Rp960 million was given to the village head to facilitate the processing of documents, which allegedly did not follow official procedures in accordance with the technical guidance of the PTSL programme,” he said.

This matter had previously been processed through the legal system and involved several other parties. Four individuals have been tried and convicted by the Corruption Court (Tipikor) in Serang, Banten.

Hasbullah was sentenced to two years and nine months imprisonment, H Sueb was sentenced to one year and nine months imprisonment, Iman Nugraha was sentenced to one year and nine months imprisonment, and Raden Febie Firmansyah was sentenced to one year and nine months imprisonment.

However, during the investigation process, Jimmy Lie failed to respond to summonses from investigators and was found to have left Indonesia.

Investigators from Metro Tangerang City Police then designated Jimmy Lie as a person on the wanted list (DPO).

The police also submitted a request for issuance of a Red Notice through the Police’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter).

The request was subsequently approved and Jimmy Lie was listed on Interpol’s Red Notice as of 22 September 2025.

After nearly six months as a fugitive, Jimmy Lie’s whereabouts were finally detected in Malaysia.

Malaysian authorities then coordinated with Polri’s Divhubinter until they handed over Jimmy Lie to Indonesian police on Sunday, 8 March 2026.

“The suspect will subsequently be handed over to the Public Prosecutor for further legal proceedings,” said Jauhari.
