Interpol Fugitive and Kresna Life Boss Michael Steven Arrested in Morocco

Michael Steven, a suspect in the PT Asuransi Jiwa Kresna (Kresna Life) default case who fled abroad, has been arrested in Morocco. He was an Interpol fugitive with a Red Notice status. Secretary of the NCB Interpol at the Indonesian National Police’s International Relations Division, Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko, stated that Michael Steven was arrested by Moroccan Police on 12 March 2026 at the request of the Indonesian NCB Interpol. Michael Steven arrived in Indonesia after being extradited by the Kingdom of Morocco on Sunday, 21 June 2026. This success is the result of cooperation between the Indonesian National Police’s International Relations Division, the Indonesian Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Intelligence Agency, and the authorities of the Kingdom of Morocco. The Government of the Kingdom of Morocco granted the extradition request submitted by the Indonesian Government on 12 June 2026. The handover process for the suspect was carried out on 20 June 2026 in Morocco, before he finally arrived in Indonesia on Sunday (21/6). Michael Steven is a suspect in an alleged capital market crime, fraud, embezzlement, and money laundering case involving Kresna Life, which is being handled by the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes at the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency. The case is suspected to have caused investor losses of approximately Rp337.4 billion. Brigadier General Untung stated that the successful extradition demonstrates the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and taking firm action against criminals who attempt to flee abroad. ‘This successful extradition shows the effectiveness of the Indonesian National Police’s international cooperation through the Interpol network and the support of various related agencies. The Indonesian National Police is committed to continuing to hunt down and bring back fugitives who flee abroad to be held accountable before the law,’ said Untung Widyatmoko in a statement on Monday (22/6/2026). Michael Steven will subsequently be handed over to investigators from the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes at the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency to undergo further legal proceedings.
