JAKARTA - The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) promises appreciation and priority in programmes for companies that facilitate competency certification for participants in the National Internship Programme. This step is aimed at ensuring that internship outcomes add value when entering the job market. Manpower Minister Yassierli assesses that the internship programme needs to be connected with certification so that participants have official recognition of their competencies. “We want to ensure that the internship programme not only provides work experience but also produces competent workers with official recognition through competency certification issued by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP),” said Yassierli on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity of Kemnaker, Darmawansyah, stated that this policy also aims to align competency standards with industry needs. “We greatly appreciate companies that facilitate certification for internship participants. This is important so that participants have standardised and industry-recognised proof of competency,” said Darmawansyah. Companies actively involved will gain broader access to strategic programmes. This scheme is expected to strengthen relations between the government, the business world, and internship participants. “This step is expected to create mutually reinforcing relationships between the government, the business world, and internship participants, so that internships truly produce measurable benefits,” he said. Participants following the programme for 6 months will receive internship certificates. Participants with a duration of more than 3 months will obtain completion letters. Kemnaker plans to expand certification access through cooperation with Professional Certification Institutions and industry partners in various sectors.
