Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Minister of Manpower Yassierli emphasised the importance of competency certification for graduates of the national internship programme as a formal recognition of their skills, while also strengthening their position in the job market.

To this end, the government is facilitating certification for participants who have completed the internship programme to enhance the competitiveness of the workforce.

“We are providing this competency certification free of charge as a form of appreciation and capital for the participants. We want internship graduates not only to bring practical experience but also to have formal proof that is widely recognised by industry,” said Yassierli during a review of the national internship programme at PT Yupi Indo Jelly Gum Tbk, Gunung Puteri, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Furthermore, Yassierli revealed that some internship participants have been absorbed as permanent employees at the companies where they trained, while others are still in the evaluation stage. This indicates that the business world considers the tangible contributions of participants during their internship period.

He added that companies have objective parameters in determining the standards for human resources to be recruited to support productivity. Therefore, participants are reminded to continue demonstrating their capacity and work ethic from the start of the programme.

“Companies will recruit workers who can provide tangible contributions. Use this internship period to demonstrate quality and competence as professionals,” he said.

Yassierli also expressed appreciation for the collaboration between programme managers, participants, and partner companies. He hopes that this synergy can be maintained to drive sustainable improvements in human resource quality.

“With a combination of field work experience and competency certification, the government is optimistic that the quality of the national workforce will increasingly align with industry dynamics,” he stated.

One of the internship participants, Sofi Khairunnisa (23), who was placed in the warehouse administration section, admitted to gaining valuable experience during the programme. She assessed that the work environment provided opportunities to apply the theory learned at university to real practice.

“This internship programme is very different from the theory at university. The warehouse environment is more dynamic and flexible, so I can train my ability to make quick decisions and adapt in the field,” she said.

Currently, 32 internship participants from Batch 2 and Batch 3 have been placed in various positions at PT Yupi Indo Jelly Gum Tbk, Gunung Puteri, ranging from administration to technical fields such as Continuous Improvement (CI), which focuses on production efficiency and autonomous maintenance.
