Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The latest report indicates that the internet has undergone a complete transformation. Currently, AI and bots have taken over the digital realm. According to the State of AI Traffic report by Human Security, AI and bots already dominate internet usage compared to humans. CEO Stu Solomon stated that the original concept of the internet has also been replaced. “The internet as a whole has been replaced with the basic idea that humans are behind the computer screen, and that idea has been replaced very quickly,” Solomon said, quoted from CNBC International, Friday (27/3/2026). The Human Security report explains that automated traffic is now generated by software systems, including AI, which is increasing rapidly. This activity refers to the numerous instances of humans querying things using AI chatbots. The growth in automated traffic was recorded to have grown almost eight times faster than human activity throughout last year. AI traffic has also been impacted by the increase in the number of large language models, reaching 187% in 2025. Some prominent names include ChatGPT from OpenAI, Claude from Anthropic, and Gemini from Google. The same report also mentions activities of AI agents like OpenClaw. It is stated that its activity growth surged nearly 8,000% in 2025, because the previous year’s volume of AI agents was still very low. Previously, Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince had predicted that AI could take over the internet. He explained that before the generative era, 20% of internet traffic consisted of bots, most of which came from Google’s web crawlers. In a short time, bot usage has become increasingly dominant. Prince said that AI bots will surpass human traffic next year due to the emergence of generative AI and the insatiable need for data.
