The successful launch of Internet Rakyat is the result of strong collaboration across our entire ecosystem of partners.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Surge (PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk, stock ticker WIFI) through its subsidiary PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama (Telemedia) has launched Internet Rakyat (IRA) simultaneously in Regional-1 covering Java, Maluku, and Papua.

The launch of IRA is a strategy to accelerate national digital inclusion through the development and utilisation of efficient, scalable, and affordable telecommunications infrastructure for Indonesian citizens.

“This (Internet Rakyat) is one of the drivers of Indonesia’s economic growth, so I am confident and optimistic we can achieve 8 percent in not too long, with infrastructure such as cheap internet, Internet Rakyat, which we launched today,” said Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Surge Board of Stakeholders, during the Regional-1 Internet Rakyat launch in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The IRA launch aligns with Surge’s vision to support national digital transformation while narrowing the fixed broadband internet access gap across Indonesia.

“McKinsey’s research shows that for every 10% of a country’s population with affordable, efficient internet, economic growth can increase by 0.7-1.3% annually,” Hashim said.

Through Internet Rakyat, Surge and Telemedia offer high-speed fixed broadband up to 100Mbps at an affordable price of Rp100,000, to expand public access to education, digital economy, public services, entertainment, and new opportunities in the digital era.

“We believe internet access is no longer a luxury but a basic necessity that must be accessible to all. Through the launch of Internet Rakyat in Java, Maluku, and Papua, we aim to bridge the digital divide and open more opportunities for citizens to participate in the digital economy,” said Shannedy Ong, CEO of PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama and Director of WIFI.

As part of Regional-1 implementation, Internet Rakyat’s infrastructure currently supports over 550 active sites as of 26 May 2026, with 3,189 radio units installed and operational across more than 82 cities and regencies in Java, Maluku, and Papua.

“The success of Internet Rakyat’s launch is due to strong collaboration from our entire ecosystem of partners. Support from technology vendors, local partners, funding partners, and various stakeholders has enabled us to accelerate infrastructure development and deliver fixed broadband services reaching more Indonesian citizens,” Shannedy Ong said.

During the Grand Launch, Telemedia introduced a special promotion collaboration with TVRI and digital platform FolaPlay, combining high-speed fixed broadband with World Cup viewing experience for Indonesians.

Through the Special Grand Launch Promotion, customers can enjoy:

  • Free IRA service for three months

  • Free World Cup viewing via FolaPlay app

  • Easy digital activation via IRA and FolaPlay apps

  • Just Rp100,000 during the promotion period
