PT PLN (Persero) continues to strengthen its commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for women to work and contribute towards advancing Indonesia’s energy sector.

This was reflected in the International Women’s Day commemoration held at PLN’s Head Office in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Psychologist and Professor at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Indonesia, Rose Mini Agoes Salim, praised PLN’s efforts in creating a women-friendly work environment that allows women to develop professionally whilst fulfilling important family roles.

“A supportive work environment and family support make women more confident, productive, and able to make greater contributions to both their organisation and society,” said Rose Mini.

Arsyadany G Akmalaputri, Director of PLN Distribution, stated that International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the importance of creating equal opportunities for women to contribute and take on strategic roles, including in the electricity sector, which has traditionally been dominated by men.

“In the electricity energy sector, such as at PLN, increasingly many women are present as competent professionals, leading teams, and managing strategic projects that support the provision of reliable electricity to the public. This demonstrates that women play an important role in driving the advancement of Indonesia’s energy sector,” said Arsyadany in a statement dated Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

PLN continues to introduce various initiatives to promote women’s empowerment in the workplace, ranging from leadership development programmes and mentoring to collaborative spaces that foster innovation among female employees.

“We want increasingly many women at PLN to be able to inspire their surroundings. When women are given space to grow, it is not only they who grow, but also our organisation and the future we build together,” said Arsyadany.

Additionally, PLN encourages women’s involvement in various Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programmes through Community Development initiatives that provide direct benefits to the public.

Various initiatives have been implemented, ranging from waste management and women’s empowerment to the Srikandi Movement programme, which contributes to education, social, and environmental sectors, as well as the Disaster-Aware Village programme that supports community resilience in the face of climate change risks.

“PLN wishes to ensure that the company’s presence not only provides reliable electricity, but also delivers positive impact to society, including through the active role of Srikandi,” concluded Arsyadany.
