International Tourist Arrivals Increase by 14.75 Per Cent
The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded that international tourist arrivals to Indonesia in April 2026 rose by 14.75 per cent compared to the previous month. The visits were dominated by foreign tourists from Malaysia, Australia, China, and Singapore.
An increase was also observed when compared to the same period in the previous year. βIn total, the number of international tourist visits (April 2026) reached 1.25 million, representing a monthly increase of 14.75 per cent. On an annual basis, there was a 7.22 per cent increase,β stated Pudji Ismartini, Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, 2 June 2026.
Cumulatively, from January to April 2026, the number of foreign nationals visiting Indonesia totalled 4.68 million. This figure also represents an 8.24 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
Arrival numbers for international tourists since the beginning of 2026 have experienced fluctuations. In January, arrivals stood at 1.19 million, before decreasing to 1.16 million in February and further dropping to 1.09 million in March. However, in April 2026, international tourist visits rebounded to 1.25 million.
Based on passport nationality, international arrivals to Indonesia in April 2026 were dominated by Malaysian passport holders, with 207,960 visits, accounting for approximately 16.65 per cent. This was followed by Australians with 157,960 visits (12.65 per cent), Chinese nationals with 133,990 visits (10.73 per cent), and Singaporeans with 111,440 visits (8.92 per cent).
Foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in April 2026 stayed for an average of 10.38 nights. Based on passport groups, tourists from ASEAN countries had the shortest average length of stay at 4.70 nights. Conversely, visitors from Africa had the longest average stay at 17.92 nights, while the longest average duration of stay was recorded among Yemeni passport holders, at 29.22 nights.
