Jakarta (ANTARA) – Said Aldi Al Idrus, President of World Mosque Youth, said the International Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) organised by World Mosque Youth at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, on 23–25 May 2026, will be attended by participants from nine countries and 28 provinces in Indonesia. Said Aldi said the International MTQ serves as an important moment to strengthen ukhuwah Islamiyah and unite the younger generation of Muslims from various countries. “This event is not only a Qur’an reading competition, but also an international silaturahmi and strengthen the brotherhood of the Muslim ummah,” said Said Aldi in a written statement received by Antara in Jakarta, Friday. This was stated by Said Aldi at a press conference on the International MTQ in Jakarta, Friday. The committee hopes the International MTQ at Istiqlal Mosque can be a platform for the peaceful, moderate, and globally active da’wah of Islam, while also introducing Indonesia as a hub of international Islamic activity. On this occasion, Said Aldi was accompanied by World Mosque Youth Secretary General, Bustomi Muchtar; World DMDI Dunia Chairman, Adline Latief; BKPRMI Secretary General, Jaylani Dalimuthe; BKPRMI Deputy Secretary General, Zaini Kolis; and a member of the DPRD, Said Syahrul Rahman. Previously, the Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar stated support for using Istiqlal Mosque for the International MTQ. “For me, as long as the purpose is good. This mosque is the house of Allah and not our house. In fact, the mosque is a big house for people,” Nasaruddin said some time ago. The Minister emphasised that Istiqlal Mosque is open for religious activities that carry a spirit of brotherhood and shared welfare.
