International kite festival held here
JAKARTA (JP): Dozens of kite lovers, including those from overseas, will take part in the three-day International Kite Festival 1994 at Monas (National Monument) park in Central Jakarta beginning Friday.
The festival, which will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, is scheduled to be opened by Governor Surjadi Soedirdja.
Foreign participants include those from Australia, China, France, Italy, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and the United States.
A series of additional events will be held during the festival, including competitions for flying and drawing kites.
A team from Australia is scheduled to exhibit their kite- flying skills.
An exhibition on kites, also participated in by foreign contestants, is currently being held at the Ancol Art Market in North Jakarta. Opened on Sunday, the exhibition will last until Friday. (bsr)
