Internal Party Polemic: PPP Regional Cadres Prepare Legal Action
The United Development Party (PPP) is once again experiencing internal dynamics following disappointment among regional-level cadres regarding the organisation’s condition. Several regional executives assess that there are serious issues concerning the effectiveness of leadership at the central level, which impacts the party’s stability.
Chair of the PPP Southeast Sulawesi Regional Leadership Council, Rachmawati Badallah, stated that her side, along with several regional cadres, is preparing legal steps in the form of a civil lawsuit. This step is described as a response to the internal polemic deemed to disrupt the organisation’s operations.
According to her, the issue relates to the inactivity of several party elites and the emergence of internal letters that trigger unrest. This condition is assessed to worsen consolidation and cause anxiety among regional cadres.
“This legal step is an accumulation of regional disappointment over the dynamics that have occurred, particularly regarding policies and internal communication deemed not conducive,” she said on Saturday, 18 April 2026.
Currently, she continued, the lawsuit process is still in the maturation stage by the legal team representing PPP regional leadership councils from various regions. Cross-regional coordination continues to ensure a strong legal basis before the lawsuit is officially filed in court.
“This is not a spontaneous decision, but the result of fairly lengthy discussions among regional representatives,” she stated.
The planned lawsuit will be filed in two district courts, adjusted to the domicile of the parties that are the object of the lawsuit. This step is hoped to become part of efforts to reorganise the organisation in a more orderly and accountable manner.
In addition to the legal route, regional cadres are also urging Muhamad Mardiono, as PPP General Chairman, to immediately take strategic steps in maintaining party solidity. Evaluation of strategic positions is deemed important to ensure the organisation’s performance remains optimal.
This urging aligns with the results of the National Coordination Meeting held some time ago, which recommended evaluation of cadres deemed inactive or less than optimal in carrying out their duties, in line with the mandate of the previous forum. The cadres assess that internal improvement steps need to be carried out immediately to maintain public trust in the party, especially ahead of future political agendas.
