Jakarta (ANTARA) - The interior of the BYD Dolphin G, developed specifically for the European market, has been revealed ahead of its launch, featuring a minimalist cabin design and a limited number of physical buttons.

Reported by Carnewschina on Wednesday (June 3), local time, this vehicle will also be one of the first models produced at the BYD factory in Szeged, Hungary.

Based on photos circulating online, the Dolphin G’s interior features a dashboard with a floating touchscreen and a digital LCD instrument panel.

The car is also equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel with the transmission lever placed behind the steering wheel. On the center console, there is a row of small physical buttons, including a driving mode selector, an audio volume control lever, and a hazard light button.

Other features visible in the cabin include a cup holder, a hidden storage compartment, and a multifunctional area that can be adapted to needs next to the panel of physical buttons.

The cabin’s air vent design is said to be similar to that used in the BYD Atto 3. Meanwhile, most of the other interior areas are still covered in fabric, so they cannot be observed in detail.

This makes it 130 mm shorter but 55 mm wider compared to the European version of the BYD Dolphin.

On the exterior, the Dolphin G features a thin headlight design, active air intakes on the front, two air flow channels on the bumper, semi-hidden door handles, and dark-colored D-pillars.

BYD has not yet revealed the official specifications of its powertrain.

However, this model is expected to use a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine with 72 kW (97 hp) combined with a 145 kW (194 hp) electric motor.

Two battery options are said to be available, with capacities of 7.8 kWh and 18 kWh.

The combination of these systems is expected to produce a combined power of up to 156 kW or approximately 209 hp.

The Dolphin G has the potential to be one of the important models in BYD’s expansion in Europe.

The official price is scheduled to be announced in June 2026, while deliveries to consumers will begin in the autumn of this year.

Based on data from China EV DataTracker, BYD’s sales in overseas markets reached 135,098 units, an increase of 70.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
