Interior Minister Tito Prohibits Regional Heads from Umrah, Requires Monitoring of Mudik Holiday Travel

Interior Minister Tito Karnavian has instructed all regional heads to remain on alert in their respective territories during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations to ensure optimal public services. According to Tito, regional heads, as the highest leaders in their jurisdictions, should not take holiday leave and must ensure that the peak period of community activities during the Lebaran holiday runs smoothly. The minister’s directive was announced during the CNBC Indonesia Power Lunch programme on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
